Alexander Charles Baker passed away unexpectedly on December 11, 2022. Alex is survived by his wife Julie, daughters Avery (6) and Addison (3), son Jaxson (1); mother Marti Baker Lawton; father Brian Baker (Beth); sister Shawn Baker Gibson (Grant); step-brother Reuben Atienza Jr. (Lita). Alex was preceded in death by step-brother Chris Atienza. Alex was born in 1986 in Edmonds, WA. Alex loved his family, and was a caring and supportive husband and father. He was surrounded by loving parents, in-laws, siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Family gatherings were frequent, and Alex and family never missed an opportunity to bond with all of us. Family often gathered around sporting events, Seahawks games in particular. Although Alex was not a particularly avid sports fan, he gamely put on a jersey and showed up to cheer on the team; but mostly to be with loving family.
He and Julie loved to travel, and family vacations to Hawaii are filled with wonderful memories. He and Julie lived in Puerto Rico for some time, loving the time they spent there getting to know the locals. They spent time in North Carolina as well, house-sitting for a family member.
He loved video games and fantasy/science fiction. Star Trek was one of his favorites, and if given a chance, he would debate you on the merits of Original vs. Next Generation vs. Picard. The same was true of Lord of the Rings.
Without any formal training he became an amateur handyman and did quite a bit of remodeling. If you needed a hand with a project, Alex was always there to volunteer. Their first house near Chase Lake was in need of some upgrades and Alex was up to the task. Alex and Julie threw themselves into the project with aid and assistance from father-in-law Jim Louthan. The result was quite impressive, and led to their being able to trade up to their beautiful home in Lynnwood.
Alex did not find his calling in a vocation until he came upon network engineering. Through hard work and study, he earned several certifications in the field which translated to good job opportunities. He was working on yet another certification at the time of his passing.
Alex’s real passion was his family. His love for Julie was apparent, and the kids would hang on their daddy like they were climbing a tree. They were the light in his eyes. They will miss him as they grow older, but those close to the family will ensure that they will not forget him. Alex and Julie met while working at an AMC Theater. They married August 17, 2012 at the Nile Country Club near Lake Ballinger. This joyous day was the beginning of their little family, which grew bigger over the years.
Charming, handsome, witty, intelligent, caring and empathetic are all words that fit Alex well. Quick with a joke, he had that ability to make those around him feel at ease.
A memorial for Alex will be held at Evergreen-Washelli at 11111 Aurora Ave. N, Seattle on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Contact family for the time of service.
