(Ret.) SSG Ollie James Hamilton was born to Jim and Jimmie Lee Hamilton on August 18, 1928 in Georgiana, Alabama. He graduated from Georgiana Training High School in 1949 and entered the United States Army. He retired from the Army in 1970. During his time in the Army he received the Army Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He worked at the Spreckles Sugar Mill for 15 years, until it closed. He was also employed in Civil Service for a short time at Fort Ord.
He was a member of the Retired Men Social Club. His favorite past times were fishing and gardening.
He accepted Christ at an early age at New Beulah Baptist Church in Georgiana, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother two brothers, and a daughter.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 62 years, Armetta Hamilton; a son, Larry Hamilton (Mary), Seaside, CA; a daughter, Pamela S. Peete (Kevin), Riverside, California; Four granddaughters, Shayla Hamilton, Atlanta, GA; Mauri Hamilton, San Diego, CA; Jasmine Peete and Maya Peete, Riverside, CA; one grandson, Kevin Peete II., Riverside, CA and a host of relatives and friends.
