Marvin was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, and has resided in Ovilla, Texas for the past 22 years. After graduation, he worked for Honda East, working on motorcycles and that is also where he bought his first motorcycle. He then went on to get his CDL license. That's when he got the name that a lot of people still know him by today, "Rocket Man". He drove a truck for White Swan Foods before pursuing a lifelong career of 30-plus years with Martin Brower in which he was a long-haul truck driver then retired as a Safety Director. During this time, he also married the love of his life Cathy, and just celebrated 49 years on May 29th. They had two beautiful children, Monica, and Marvin III, also known as Big Boi.
For the past 20 years Marvin and his best friend, Jeff Rosen, have put on hundreds of car shows for Gasoline Alley. He loved restoring muscle cars, motorcycles, and tractors. His favorite thing to do was farm work and mowing his property. He loved to vacation with his family, but his favorite place to be was Mexico. Marvin will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.
Marvin is survived by his wife Cathy, daughter Monica Hall (Kenny), grandson Trey Hall, sister Gloria Vaughan (Billy), sister Pat Moya (Benny), and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son, Marvin III, and parents Marie and Marvin Wilkins Sr, brother Michael Wilkins, and sister Terri Spurgeon Espy.
A visitation for Marvin will be held Friday, July 15, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home, 1000 S Highway 175, Seagoville, TX 75159.
