Lois "Nana" Marie Allen

Lois recently had a heart attack and along with other medical complications, she was unable to overcome the battle. Over her last few days, she was surrounded and cared for by her four surviving sons (Bret, Rod, Derl, and Steve) and other family members.

Lois was born in Farmersville, Texas on September 26, 1941 to Mary Francis McMullen and Benjamin Franklin Driggars. Lois was the youngest of 10 children born to Frank and Mary. A few years after her birth, the family moved to Seagoville, Texas where she would attend school and meet most of her lifelong friends. She loved telling the story of how her teeth got knocked out during basketball as a freshmen where they would later be runner up in the state finals.

Lois spent the next thirty years raising five boys and trying to keep them out of trouble. Her love for her boys was irrefutable. She enjoyed game night with friends, dancing poorly, and cheating at cards. Up into her 40’s, Lois was still quite active in sports such as softball and basketball, playing alongside many of her high school friends. Even into her sixties, she would trash talk the grandkids during a whiffle ball game with a cigarette hanging out of her lips.

Lois traveled across the world, laughed inappropriately at every chance, and said what was on her mind without any filter. Lois loved her grandkids, tolerated her daughters-in-law, and hated chickens. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Lou Dean, Dewey, Garvin, Paul, Billy, Hughlene (Booger Red), Jo and Joyce, and son Joe Dean Allen.

She leaves behind sons, Bret Rudd and wife Irene, Rod Allen and wife Pam, Darrell Allen and wife Melissa, Steve Allen and wife Cathe, along with a sister Emma Hash. She also leaves grandchildren Cole, Nathan, Sarah, Heath, Joe, Scot, Braxton, Jacob, Jase, and Kayla, along with bonus grandkids Boston, Branson, Beau, and Brooklyn. Great-grandkids are Wyatt, Waylon, Kyler, Roman, and many nieces and nephews.
