Joyce Wanda Riner came into this world on Friday, August 10th, 1928, in Waco, Texas, and ascended to be with her heavenly Father and preceding family members on Monday, October 31st, 2022 in Mesquite, Texas with loved ones by her side, covered in her favorite Elvis blanket and Conway Twitty music playing.
She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Mary Elizabeth Stephens, her husband Butch Riner, her children Brenda Joyce Pass, Jackie Elizabeth Lindsey, Wesley Gothard, Stevie Riner and Glenn Riner, her three grandchildren Lisa Pass, Bobby Jack Pass and Sirjoe Barbosa , her brother Clarence Edward Stephens and her nephew Dennis Stephens.
She is survived by her daughter Wanda Rollins, her two sons David Ray Riner and Ricky Riner, 19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren, 2 nephews and 1 niece and countless other family members and friends who love and miss her dearly.
To know her, even briefly, was to be loved by her, unconditionally and without judgement. Her door was never locked, and her home was open to anyone in need. She collected “extra” children, grandchildren and nieces and nephews like others collect rewards and accolades, and with little means she managed to be home base, a north star for so many and the world was a better place for the last 94 years. In honor of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great Great-Grandmother who has set her compass in our hearts, minds, and bones – please pay this kindness forward with love, grace, and a good belly laugh, if possible.
The visitation will be held from 11:00 am-1:00 pm on Monday, November 7, 2022, at Roselawn Funeral Home, 1000 UA-175 Frontage Rd, Seagoville, Texas 75159 with the funeral service immediately following at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
