Johnny was born on June 7, 1940, in Peoria, Illinois, to Frank Herman Robertson and Verna L. Quigley Robertson.
John grew up in Illinois, where he spent the first half of his life. It was there that he completed his education and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Johnny trained as an Air Policeman and later became an Air Police Supervisor. During his military service, he earned several honors, including the Outstanding Unit Award, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
After returning to Illinois, John began his career as a machinist and started a family. He married and welcomed two daughters into the world. In the years that followed, the family relocated to Texas, where John would spend the remainder of his life.
In the late 1980s, after separating from his first wife, Johnny found love again. A hobby of square dancing introduced him to Sharon Denman, the love of his life. The two married on April 17, 1993, and shared 31 wonderful years together.
Johnny was a dedicated member of the Seagoville Church of Christ, where he made many close friendships within the congregation.
John is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Sharon Robertson; his sister, Melba Jean Smith of San Diego, CA; his daughters, Karen Windsor of Garland, TX, and Mary Abbas of Grand Prairie, TX; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Linda Kelley and Juanita Robertson, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and cherished friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Herman and Verna Robertson; his firstborn sister, Lois Virginia Robertson, whom he never had the chance to meet; and his brother, Gerald Leon Robertson.
A visitation will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home in Seagoville on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. Following the visitation, John will be transported to the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery for a small committal service, where he will receive military honors and be laid to rest.
