Jan Hill-Holt

Audrey Jannette “JAN” Hill-Holt, passed away at the age of 81 on November 20, 2022 in Dallas, Texas. She was born on September 6, 1941 to Alton Oats and Inez Davis Oats. Jan was raised in Seagoville and attended Seagoville High School.

In 1959, Jan married Milton Hill and they had 3 children. After 21 years of marriage, Jan and Milton ended the marriage amicably, remaining as great friends and a wonderful parenting duo to their children. In 1980 she met John David “DAVE” Holt. The couple married in 1986 and she became step-mother to his 2 children.

Jan loved her family dearly. She enjoyed spending time together with family just visiting and reminiscing. She unselfishly loved her children and supported them all her life through the many highs and difficulties of their lives.

Anyone who knew Jan knew how much she loved music. As a child in the 1940’s, Jan began singing and was a regular on the porch of the old ice house, which was located in old downtown Seagoville. She was one of the first choir members at Victory Baptist Church in Seagoville (as well as one of the first Charter members of VBC). She spent most of her life singing somewhere. She loved both Gospel and Country music. She had a beautiful voice and sang from her heart, up to her next to the last day on earth. Her family has no doubt she is singing in the heavenly choir.

Jan worked most of her life in various clerical positions, retiring from the City of Seagoville Utility Billing Department in 2003.

She is survived by her loving husband, Dave Holt; daughter, Cindy Brown and husband Rick; daughter, Gail Herron and husband George; stepson, Keith Holt and girlfriend Cynthia; stepdaughter, Meredith Liddick. Grandchildren Brad Woodruff, Autumn Herron and Lori Herron, plus bonus grandchildren Tammie O’Connor, Marcus Brown, Daniel Grant, Anthony Grant, Jaycee Liddick, Joshua Holt, and Kaylan Holt; and, great- grandchildren, Cody, Callee, Cameron, Cayson, Cutter, plus numerous bonus great-children. Jan is also survived by her precious older sister, Darlene Gunstanson. And, she would be extremely upset if her fur-babies Bella and Rowdy were not mentioned.

Jan was preceded in death by her son, Milton Heath Hill; her parents, Alton and Inez Oats; her sister, Carolyn Ruth Hawthorne; and the father of her children, Milton Lloyd Hill.

A visitation for Jan will be held Monday, November 28, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home, 1000 S Highway 175, Seagoville, TX 75159. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 1000 S Highway 175, Seagoville, TX 75159. A committal service will occur Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 1000 S Highway 175, Seagoville, TX 75159.
