Evelyn Jean Atkinson

Ms. Atkinson was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. She loved all of her family and considered them the most important thing in life.

After moving to Texas to be closer to her daughter Mary, she began working in the nutrition department of Mesquite ISD, from where she would later retire.

Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Mary Rutherford and husband Donald, and Brenda Shayesteh; grandchildren, Scott Rutherford and wife Savannah, Matthew Rutherford and wife Emaleah, Justin Shayesteh, and Layla Shayesteh; great-grandchildren, Hazel and Ivy Rutherford; siblings, Ruth Sutton, Sue Kline, Ann Kimball, and Billy Halfhill; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and loving friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her loving husband, Junious Austin Atkinson; son-in-law, Mostafa Shayesteh; and her siblings, Eloise Simpkins, Peggy Westerman, Eva Wulff, Emmett Halfhill Jr, and John Halfhill Sr.

A visitation for Evelyn will be held Monday, May 13, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home, 1000 S Highway 175, Seagoville, TX 75159. Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 1000 US-175 Frontage Rd, Seagoville, TX 75159.
