Bill was born on December 9th, 1936 in Indianola, Iowa. He attended Maple Grove School, and often spoke of his much-loved teacher Freda Caviness. His first three years of high school were at Indianola High.
Then in 1954, at the age of seventeen, Bill made a monumental move to the then-rural community of Chandler, Arizona—graduating from Chandler High School in 1955. He worked as a volunteer fire fighter for a time, and attended Arizona State College during its name transition to Arizona State University. Bill graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and eventually earned his Master of Natural Sciences (MNS).
It was in a history class, at Arizona State, that Bill was to meet the love of his life —Susan Bump. They were married in August of 1961 in Phoenix, and spent the remaining sixty years together there hand-in-hand. Bill and Susan were each other’s everything!
Bill may have followed in the footsteps of his Uncle Keith, but was himself truly born to teach high school science. He taught in Phoenix at Paradise Valley High, Xavier High, and twenty-eight years teaching the young Spartans of Camelback High School.
He was a staunch believer that the Constitution of the United States is a living entity, ever to be cherished, protected and preserved. Bill especially held close to his heart his love for the First and Second Amendments. He was a true patriot, and treasured his family, friends and neighbors.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Donald Scott Noble and Lillian Ruth Jenner Noble of Indianola, Iowa. Survivors include his wife Susan, sons Scott of Phoenix, and Jonathan (Amanda) of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, daughter Melissa of Phoenix, sister Elizabeth (Alexander) of Maumelle, Arkansas—along with thirteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery in Scottsdale, Arizona on Monday, June 13th, 2022 at 3:15pm.
