Richard Lovins, 95, of Phoenix passed away Friday December 15 2023. He was born in Malden, Massachusetts on April 19, 1928. Richard graduated from Pennsylvania School of Optometry with an O.D. and University of Connecticut with a Ph.D. in Psychology. He was married to Judith Judith Horowitz in 1958 and was married for 65 years at the time of his passing. He worked as a clinical psychologist, school psychologist, and in private practice as a psycho-therapist. Hw served as president of the Maricopa Psychological Society and held an adjunct faculty position as ASU’s College of Education as well as the Psychology Department.
He is survived by his beloved wife Judy, beloved children Michael Lovins and Susan Eick, brother Alan Lovins, and grandchildren Amanda Lovins, Alex Lovins, Annie Eick, and Leah Eick. In his retirement he devoted much of his time to volunteering at Sun Sounds, a radio reading service for the blind and print-handicapped, where he read the Wall Street Journal every week as well as his own show that he developed called See It Now which dealt with developments in vision technology, using his background as an optometrist.
