High, Paul Stanley 86, of Chandler, AZ passed away peacefully in his home on February 10, 2017 with his loving wife and family by his side. Paul was born on November 29, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the youngest of six children born to David and Leona High. Paul married Ginny Lovell of Covington, Kentucky on July 25, 1953. The two moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 1957 and lived there until 1966 when they moved their family to Tempe, Arizona. Paul accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior in 1954 and was very involved in his local church. He was at the church at every opportunity. He spent many years serving at Tri-City Baptist Church in Tempe and most recently at Desert Gateway Baptist Church in Gilbert, AZ. He taught Sunday school classes, sang in the choir, went on visitation and served as a deacon. Paul loved to study the Bible and fellowship with other believers.
Paul proudly served in the United States Army as an intercept operator from 1948 to 1952. He received multiple service medals including the Korean War Service medal and the United Nations Service medal. After moving to Arizona, he worked for Garrett AiResearch, now Honeywell, as a machinist and tool/dye specialist. He retired from Garrett in 1989. After retirement, he loved to fix up old cars, head to his cabin in the White Mountains and spend time with his family. He loved supporting his grandchildren and great grandchildren at their school functions and their sporting events. He also enjoyed attending Arizona sporting events and having family over to watch the games.
Paul lived a full life focused on honoring God, loving his family and helping others. Paul was most proud of his family and is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ginny, son Mike (Debbie) High, and son Larry (Regina) High. He is survived by 11 grandchildren, James (Amanda) Brown, Paul (Tricia) Brown, Charity Brown, Rebekah High, Susannah (Jimmy) Dornan, Sammy High, Shelly (Daniel) Henning, Tommy (Lindsay) High, Jimmy High, Tina (Levi) Denny, and Rocky (Tianna) High. He loved to spoil his 13 great grandchildren, Jaelyn, Cason, Kallei, Lara, Junior, Teagan, Lance, Kayla, Dillon, Levi, Kelsie, Landon and Henry. He was preceded in death by his five siblings, his daughter Lynda High Brown, son-in-law Ed Brown and grandson Billy Thornton.
A memorial service will be held at Desert Gateway Church, 2175 S. Gilbert Road, Gilbert, AZ 85295 on Friday, February 17 at 6pm. Flowers may be sent to the church at that address.
