Daniel C. Ramsey, Jr., 64, of Scottsbluff went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 3, 2012. A funeral service will be held Friday, December 7th at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Brad Gustafson officiating. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dan’s name to the First Presbyterian Church or to the Lied Scottsbluff Public Library. Dan was born two stories over a parking lot in downtown Scottsbluff (the old General Hospital) on July 29, 1948 to Jane Barbour Ramsey and Daniel C. Ramsey, Sr. He held several swimming records at Scottsbluff High School despite hanging out with the Desperados. Dan graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1966. He attended several institutions of higher learning before he married his only love and best friend, Pat Truax, on February 27, 1971. They made their home in Scottsbluff. He worked in construction and he had many projects started and “most” were finished according to his wife. He may be best remembered for Mortar Man who was always dressed for special occasions. Mortar Man is now in the Witness Protection Program. Dan was very involved in this community and held a special place in his heart for Habitat for Humanity and the Scottsbluff City Planning Commission. Dan always made friends and family everywhere he went. Dan tried to live out his Christian beliefs in his service to others. He and Pat fostered 5 children and 1 exchange student and always welcomed people into their home. He was an avid gardener, Master Carpenter, enjoyed creating sculptures out of cement, playing with his grandchildren and starting new projects. He was known for his humor and his infectious smile. He was a member, Deacon and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church, the Desperados, and the Bigsby Brothers. His loss is staggering to all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, his children, Jim Ramsey and Sarah (Lee) Pinet of Scottsbluff and Will (Heather) Ramsey of Omaha and Sebastian Boon of France. His grandchildren include: Alex Ramsey, Victoria Branco, Dani, Grant and Neal Pinet, Giovanni and Leonidas Ramsey. He is also survived by his brother, John Ramsey, sister, Jane Moran, 4 nieces and sister-in-law, Allyson Schuur. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Sue Murphy and brother-in-law, Vern Schuur.
