I hope the Heavens are ready for Michael's New Years Party.  He knew how to host the best one's on the planet as the lucky Scituate kids who knew Michael could attest to. I know he is fondly remembered by all of us.

Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time.

Michael was the one I always looked up to from our very first days. Even coming home from kindergarten one day with a black eye he squarely delivered failed to deter me as I knew Mike was the one I wanted for a best friend. I remember being so excited upon learning that only a small hill on Cherry Lane and a scraggly patch of bamboo woods separated us, through which we quickly constructed a well-worn path and shared many great boyhood adventures often with George Connors. 

Michael was never a big fan of organized instruction but had a very keen mind and a true love of learning. With Mike when a topic caught his interest, it was always all in whether it be Cheech and Chong quotes from a scratchy LP, Monty Pythons smart silliness, Tarantino dialogue, his current favorite band, brewing beer, hand grip strengtheners, the art of kimchi or smoking meat ... just to name a few. He would quickly become the resident expert and loved to share what hed learned, sometimes ad infinitum, but always in the witty detailed way that was his trademark. 

If he loved you he would tease you full stop. It was an art form he mastered over a lifetime of practice. As a younger sibling myself, I often sympathized with Beth, and especially Brian, during the early days of Mike learning this craft. I remember vividly Mike holding Brian down in the Youngs new upstairs living room and tickling his face with plucked fresh carpet fibers while Brian wailed and struggled to get away without success until Marge or Dick would hear, As Michael matured his verbal attention became nuanced and gentler and a treasured badge of honor you wore knowing you were cherished in his world. Lorna knew she was loved by Mike when he would call on many July 4ths to wish her a happy Independence Day ☺.

Michael was the magnetic leader of our Minot high school gang that included George Connors, Matt Robbins and Mike Letteney. Luckily for us Mike was often able to talk our way out of penalty for our our latest mischief. The five of us had many years of mostly good-natured rebellious teenage fun and formed a bond that remains.

He learned to charm with his stories and wit and met and  fell in love with Leslie soon after high school. Upon return from the Navy, I remember his joy at the births of his sons Tyler and Connor who he loved more than anything in the world and delighted in telling us about as they grew. When he came to England for our wedding he charmed all of Lornas English family and friends as my best man. 

He loved children and never repressed in adulthood, like too many of us, his silly sense of humor. I remember our 3 year old son son Nicholas bursting out of the car and running full speed to see Mike on our many visits to Mike and Lisas loving home in Marshfield because he loved the fun with Mike that was waiting for him with a big silly smile.

Mike was a true Scituate townie. Though encouraged to visit our homes away from Scituate, it took some work assignments to finally get Mike to travel too far from Scituate and when he did it was like not a day had passed as he brought and shared his loving heart, details of his hobbies, news about his sons and parents, and new stories. 

This past week, and especially yesterday, confirmed to  Lorna and I just how many Mike had truly touched with his heart and wit over his lifetime with numerous people sharing stories of Michaels kindness, and his unique way of making his many, many friends feel special. 

Mike had often held things inside and we often communicated through music. It made me happy when he told me he was finding some peace through a recommended band. We lost Michael much too soon but I take great comfort in knowing that he touched many long lifetimes worth of friends in his fifty-two years. He blessed my family and me with his love throughout his life and I cant wait to find my way back through those bamboo woods in the next world to hear his new stories and give him another big hug.

My sincerest condolences to Mike's family and friends. I will always remember his kindness and his sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.

My heart breaks with this news of Michael.  He was another younger brother hanging at the our house or off on some adventure with the Minot crew.  When I was babysitting at home and Dan wasn't around, it was virtually a guarantee that he'd be off with Michael discovering new adventures at the "fort" in the woods. I'd send Kristen to go and collect Dan which usually meant I'd have later go get both of them for supper.  Michael was always kind of quiet but with a gleam in his eyes, at the ready for some fun.  I lost contact with most of Dan's friends after moving away, but with internet, we became friends on Words with Friends.  Rest in peace Michael.

Michael may not have officially been "family ", but he was the best big brother I could have asked for.  Only Mike could have had the patience to teach me to ride a bike (at age 40).  Only Mike could have gotten away with telling me to eat my veggies so I wouldn't get "scurvy" (again, in my 40's).  There was so much more Michael had to share with the world and I am so sad that he never have the chance.   

My heartfelt condolences to Mikes family and his many friends. We had so many good times it's hard to remember them all. His quick wit and sense of humor will always be remembered. I'm happy to have been friends for so many years and all of the experiences we shared. I still remember Mike painting my entire dashboard in day glow paint and psychedelic patterns at a Dead show. man that was a distracting drive back home! Rest in peace my friend.

When I heard the news of Mike's passing I was devastated. After High School, and I moving to Maine, we had lost touch for a while (until the magic of the internet.) Once we reconnected, I found out we shared a mutual interest in mountain biking, and, hearing of a race at Wompatuck, I reached out to Mike to see if he'd mind if I come down and hang out. He warmly invited me into his home and almost instantly it seemed like old times. He hadn't changed a bit! He still had that wry wit and a great, and goofy, sense of humor that I remembered. It was as if no years had passed between us, he was that easy to get on with. He will be sorely missed. See you on the other side friend. Peace.

My sincere condolences to the Young family, a family I grew up caring about and being cared by.  I spent many days and nights in the Young house and Michael spent many days and nights in our home.  I was honored to have known him, more like a brother to me than my brother,s  friend.  I was so fortunate to have grown up in Minot and to have known such a beautiful man. Rest In Peace Mike.

I spoke with Mike everyday, he was my daily dose of silly. He had the biggest heart and was so thoughtful and caring. My son loved him and invited him to his birthday party which says a lot! He would drop anything he was doing to help family and friends and my life was so much better for him being a part of it. He will truly be missed and I send prayers to his family and friends who share my/our grief. Rest In Peace my friend you were well loved.

I love you I miss YOU! and wish we had one more game of pool and one more everything else, that said one more wouldn't be enough, Michael "forever" Young, you're breaking so many hearts right now

It was 97 degrees and no A/C. We ran out of beer but Mike came to the rescue - as he so often did. 

Marge, my deepest sympathy fort the loss of Mike, it was a shocking news. He was a real, real gentleman!

My sincerest condolences to Mike's family. I work with Connor, and I must say in Connor, Mike has left a wonderful legacy and a tribute to his adventurous spirit.

Mike and I were in the same Class of 1983. I remember him as a quiet, but extremely nice person. I am so very sorry for your loss. I wish the whole family peace and remembrance of a wonderful man.
