Cilento-Margaret D. (Doyon) of Scituate, loving wife and mother passed away peacefully on October 23, 2010 with her family by her side. She was a devoted wife to Bartley G. Cilento, MD. She was born March 4, 1938, in Littleton, N.H., the daughter of Margaret F. Flayhan of Dover, N.H. and the late Arthur Doyon. She grew up in Littleton and graduated from Littleton High School in 1956. In 1957, Margaret was crowned Miss New Hampshire and competed in the Miss America contest in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She attended St. Anselm College in Manchester, N.H. where she met the love of her life, Bartley and married in 1959. Bart and Margaret are the loving parents of six daughters and two sons and the proud grandparents of twenty-four grandchildren. They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary this past August. Margaret devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren. Her lifelong passions were reading, knitting, sewing and gardening. Many of her evening hours, were spent creating sweaters, hats and mittens that family members will cherish forever. Her pie baking skills were legendary and everyone had a favorite. She was caring, compassionate and faith filled, possessing eternal optimism that was contagious. She had a true love of life and was truly a beautiful person whose memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. An avid reader, Margaret enjoyed many topics especially finance and history and thought of herself as an amateur meteorologist. Blessed with a special talent for writing poetry, she brought her family many smiles and a few tears. Margaret is also survived by son Bartley G. Cilento, Jr., MD and wife Leanora of Canton, daughters Becky and her husband Stephen Bushey of South Portland, Maine, Barbara and her husband Ramzi Saad, MD of Marshfield, Germaine and her husband Scott Foster of Travelers Rest, SC, son Matthew Cilento and his wife Eileen of Chelmsford, Catherine and her husband David Armstrong of Marshfield, Maria Murphy of Chelmsford and Jennifer and her husband Christopher Merlan of Pembroke. She was the proud grandmother of Elizabeth and Audrey Cilento, Jack, William and Margaret Bushey, Matthew, Benjamin and Amelia Saad, Samuel, Jonathan, Megan, Catherine and Joshua Foster, Kimberly and Andrew Cilento, David, Olivia, Harrison, John and Julia Armstrong, Anthony and Thomas Murphy, and Ella and Luke Merlan. She is survived by her mother Margaret Flayhan of Dover, N.H., sisters Sharon Grygiel of Lauderdale, FL, Ginger Nelson of Barrington, N.H., Harriet Gowan of Barrington, N.H. and brother Terrence Dunn of Dover, N.H., and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate on Thursday, Oct. 28th at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street Scituate Harbor, with Fr. Martin Mager OSB of Woodside Priory, Portola Valley, CA as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary of the Nativity Cemetery, Scituate, MA. Visitation will be Wednesday October 27, 2010 from 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Margaret’s memory to: Hospice of the South Shore or the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, Hanover MA.
