Loretta Elizabeth Keefe of Scituate, passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2022. Loretta was born November 29, 1928, in Roxbury, MA. She lived her early years in Boston where she met her husband David J. Keefe (deceased). Loretta and David settled in Scituate, MA in 1963 where they raised their family of eight daughters. Her love of God, family, children and song provided great strength and joy that sustained Loretta across her nearly 94 years.
Loretta was a loving, devoted mother, generous, kind sister, tender, supportive grandmother and a welcoming, compassionate neighbor and friend. She loved music, reading, travel and when she was able, her walks around the block where she would visit with her neighbors. She was her grandchildren's biggest fan- delighting in every achievement and accolade -whether it was a dance recital, sports game, chorale, band concert or theater event - Nana was there with a beaming smile, a cheer, and a hug.
While her family was the center of her life, Loretta’s compassion and caring extended into the community. She was an active long-time member of St. Mary of the Nativity Parish, a former Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, a CCD teacher and provided homemade meals for the Pine Street Inn. After David’s death, she served as a Board member and Treasurer of the Satuit Waterfront Club for several years. Loretta was also a great supporter of the foreign exchange programs. Whether it was for a few weeks during summer for a church sponsored youth program or a year-long commitment to the AFS foreign student exchange, she welcomed many students and young professionals into her home extending her circle of friends around the world.
Loretta was predeceased by her siblings – Joanne Doyle, Dorothy Wellington, Richard Gosse, Thomas Gosse, and Thomasina Corey, and her son-in law Ronald Lackey.
