Linda Ann (Richardson) Zimmer, 75, of Wolfeboro, NH and formerly Scituate, MA, passed away peacefully following a long illness on July 4, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of John B. Zimmer, with whom she shared almost 60 years of marriage.
Born in 1947 in Lowell, MA, she was the daughter of Ernest A. and Rita Richardson. She lived most of her life in Scituate where she attended Scituate High School and had the nickname “Digger”, no doubt due to the fact that her family owned and operated the Richardson Funeral Home in Scituate Center.
She met and fell in love with her soon-to-be husband John, and they settled down in Scituate to raise their family. Her hometown of Scituate always occupied a special place in her heart, and she would talk about it often with her family and friends after moving to New Hampshire in 1996.
Linda had a variety of jobs throughout her life, including working for GMAC Mortgage Company and as a sales associate at various retail stores on the South Shore. While in Scituate, she was the president of Seahawks Youth Hockey, the program her two sons played in. But the one job she was most proud of and committed to was raising her family. In her later years in Wolfeboro, she stayed active working for the local Rite Aid store and in the gift shop at Huggins Hospital.
Linda was always very outgoing and had many friends. She absolutely loved feeding the birds (and the occasional chipmunk) and maintained bird feeders everywhere she lived. She was particularly fond of Northern cardinals and ruby-throated hummingbirds. She loved jewelry, cooking, shopping, and traveling. She was never one to pull punches and would always let you know what she thought about anything. She was always there for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, no matter what they needed.
Linda is survived by her husband John of Ossipee, NH, daughter Joanne of Marshfield, MA, son John and his wife Elizabeth of Marshfield, MA, daughter Marlene and her partner Michael Eno of Rochester, NH, and son Jason and his wife Laura of Marshfield, MA.
Her lasting legacy is exemplified by her 13 grandchildren - Joshua, Cathryn, Connor, Tyler, Kobe, Nathan, Bradi, Cove, Sarah, Kate, Paige, Rowan and Lily, as well as her 3 great-grandchildren – Alana, R.J. and Ellie.
She is also survived by six sisters - Joyce Kelso and Pamela Crosby of Mobile, AL, Robin Hall and Marie Shepherd of Tampa, FL, and Cheryl Davis and Melodie Sanchez of St. Petersburg, FL, and two brothers - Gerald Thurston of Mobile, AL, and Kevin Thurston of Tampa, FL.
Linda was predeceased by her sister Carol Brown and her biological mother, Carita Thurston.
Per her wishes, services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Linda would want you to express your love to those you value in your life.
