Linda Hutchinson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend of Conway NH and recently Scituate Massachusetts, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 6th. In the days leading up to her death, she was surrounded in love and prayer by her family.
Linda was born March 29th, 1948 to the late John and Gertrude Cochrane. The eldest of seven, she was raised in a small house full of faith and love in Quincy. She graduated from Archbishop Williams high school in 1966 and then moved to the Mount Washington Valley, bringing faith and love with her to carry and share throughout her whole life.
Linda loved the beauty of the valley and enjoyed all that it had to offer, an early riser and walker the sunrises were her favorite, she loved to swim in the rivers and canoe in the lakes, hike and ski the mountains and trails. She raised her three children with Patrick McDonough in a wonderful neighborhood full of bicycles and families and in her later years continued to happily explore more beautiful areas and hidden gems of surrounding towns with her second husband, Clifford Hutchinson. She managed the books of many businesses and chapters over the years, eventually forming her own business. Her community ties were strong; she served as Eucharistic minister, lector, and catechism teacher over the years with her church first in Conway at St Charles and then in Fryeburg, Maine at St Elizabeth Ann Seton, she was active in her childrens’ schools and the local library in Conway where she volunteered and served on the Board of Trustees, and was adored in her groups of friends who are in Mount Washington Valley still and will miss her dearly. Linda loved to host friends and family in her home, always ready to serve, always eager to help and support, and happily guiding us all through the marvels of nature where she lived.
Linda is survived by her three children Kathryn and husband David Murdock of Scituate Massachusetts, John McDonough of Montville New Jersey, and Dan McDonough of Chocorua New Hampshire, her five grandchildren Linda, Maeve, William, Jack, and Noah, her six siblings Jack, Dan, Joan, Terri, Susan, and Barbara and their families.
Linda’s life will be lovingly remembered and celebrated on Tuesday, March 9th at 10am in Scituate, MA at Richardson-Gaffey funeral home with service to follow at St Mary’s church at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Mother Seton House, Inc at PO Box 673 Fryeburg Maine 04037, a cherished non-profit that Linda was instrumental in helping to establish.
