Joe was the beloved husband of Karen Talcott Sinclair with whom he shared 12 years of marriage. A proud father to Kurt Sinclair and his wife, Kristin, of Westford, MA, and Samantha Sinclair of Malden, MA. He was also a loving stepfather to Taylor Blumenreich of Revere and Billy Blumenreich of Stoneham. Known affectionately as "Grampa," he deeply adored his granddaughters, Hadley and Leila Sinclair of Westford, who brought immense joy to his life.
He is survived by his sisters, Evelyn Raeke and Mary Sinclair-Dumais, both of Plymouth; Patricia McConnell of Winchendon; Judy Sinclair of Winchester; and his brother, John Sinclair of Chatham. Joe was also a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Raised in Brighton where he made lifelong friends, Joe lived a life full of love, hard work, and dedication to his family and friends. Joe worked as a shipping clerk for the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) at the Port of Boston for over 40 years. He was known as “The Saint” on the Boston waterfront, where he was a popular and beloved fixture.
An alumnus of Framingham State College, Joe played for the football team during his time there, where he was a captain. There he showcased the athleticism and determination that he carried into his lifelong love of all sports. He was an avid fan of football, basketball, tennis, and golf, enjoying both the thrill of competition and the camaraderie they brought. He was a natural hand at any sport he tried, and was the greatest athlete you’ve never heard of. He also brought that love of sport into the world of officiating. He officiated high school football, basketball, and lacrosse among other sports. He developed an especially deep passion for officiating football, where he worked multiple Massachusetts high school Super Bowls.
Joe will be remembered for his big heart, sharp wit, and the countless ways he enriched the lives of those who knew him.
A celebration of Joseph Sinclair’s life will be held on December 8th at The Drift, located at Widow's Walk Golf Club 1:00-4:00 PM.. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories of a man who was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
