John Harvey Shea

John was born in Hudson, MA, the son of the late John Joseph and Lillian Ruth Shea. John graduated from Worcester Academy and later received his BA in English Literature from Harvard College. John also served in the United States Army as a paratrooper assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Benning,Georgia. John was an avid reader, a friend to many who needed one and a tremendous supporter of his family. John was a devoted fan of Harvard football and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sporting events. John was also as a great supporter of Scituate athletics and could always be counted on for coaching, advice and/or encouragement. He will be missed by many but will live on in the memories of his loved ones.

John leaves his former wife and longtime friend: Jane Shea of Squantum, MA; two children: Terence Shea of Scituate, MA and Katherine Shea of Boston, MA; his daughter-in-law Lori Shea of Scituate, MA and two grandchildren: Emily and Amanda Shea of Scituate, MA.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, July 2nd, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road., Scituate. A celebration of John’s life will be held Thursday, July 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke’s Church, 465 First Parish Rd., Scituate.
