Age 80, of Hull, passed away January 28, 2017 in Pompano Beach, Florida. Born in Somerville, Jim was the son of the late Martin and Mary Campbell. He was the cherished husband to his late wife Janet Zoia Campbell. He is survived by several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim is a 1954 graduate of St. Patrick’s High School in Watertown and a proud graduate of St. Francis Xavier University class of 1960 with a Bachelor of Commerce in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada. Jim along with his wife Janet operated the Century Irish Pub in Falmouth for 20 years and Century Irish Items, a wholesale company selling Irish products. Jim and Janet founded and operated the Scituate St. Patrick’s Day Parade for many years.
A loyal New England Patriots season ticket holder since 1960, Jim was named “Fan of the Year” by the Patriots in 1995 and in 1999 was the first Patriots fan to enter the NFL hall of fame in Canton, Ohio in their new fan section called the “Visa hall of Fans”. Jim cheered on the Patriots from right behind the bench at 5 Superbowls.
Besides football, his passion was travelling with Janet around the world with stops in China, Australia, New Zealand, Cuba and Russia twice. Travelling with Janet earned them both membership to the Travelers Century Club which recognizes members who travel to over 100 countries.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, Massachusetts from 4pm - 8 pm, on Monday February 6, 2017. A funeral mass will take place on Tuesday February 7, 2017 at 10:00am from St. Mary’s of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate. Burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Scituate.
