Born and raised in Dorchester, MA, Barbie truly was a “Dorchester girl” with a kind heart. In addition to raising her five children in Scituate, MA, Barbie devoted a lot of her life to the Catholic Church through her ministry in town as well as her service at the Holy Cross Retreat House. She was actively devoted to her work at St. Mary of the Nativity Church through her service as a Lector, Extraordinary Minister of Communion and director of Homebound Ministry for many years. She was known most for her strong voice, unconditional love and undying faith in Christ. She was such a gift to us all.
Barbara loved and cherished her family. She was the youngest of her family and predeceased by her four siblings. She has now joined William Henry Ohrenberger Jr., husband of 46 years, in watching over their five children. She was the devoted mother of Karen Ohrenberger Kotfila and her husband Alan of Tolland, CT, William H. Ohrenberger, III and his wife Gretchen of Scituate, Judy Ohrenberger Lyons and her husband Kevin on West Barnstable, Jane Ohrenberger Kuklis and her husband Mark of Scituate and Susan Ohrenberger McCowan and her husband David of Scituate. Cherished grandmother of Daniel, Elizabeth, Jill, Billy, Kurt, Leah, Jacob, Caitlin, Mark, Kelly, Sarah and Anna. Great grandmother of Kaydence.
She is also survived by a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Visitation to take place 2-7 pm on Thursday December 21 at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday December 22 at 10am from St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St, Scituate. She will be laid to rest beside her late husband at St. Mary’s Cemetery following the funeral Mass.
