

BONNEY, Allerton- Age 95, lifelong resident of Scituate, passed away on April 15, 2025. He was the son of the late Allerton and Margaret Bonney and loving husband of 72 years to Carmen Bonney. Cherished father of Deborah Napoli and her husband Stephen of Reading, Linda Bonney of Marshfield, and Alan Bonney of Scituate. Beloved grandfather to Rachelle Napoli, John Napoli, Patrick Scott, Nicholas Scott, Julia Scott and great grandfather to Vince, Ellie, Dominic, Gianna, and Michael. He was predeceased by his sisters Priscilla Smith and Merial Bonney.
Al was a member of many associations including the Satuit Post 144, Scituate VFW, Friends of the USS Arizona, Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, and the Sons of the American Revolution. He served on the first Conservation Commission in the Town of Scituate and the Scituate Planning Board. He was also a member of the Plymouth County League of Sportsmen and the South Shore Rifle and Pistol League for over 70 years, as well as several other local sportsmen’s clubs. He founded the Wampanoag Paddlers club in 1970 – a group dedicated to family canoeing & kayaking – that is still operating to this day.
He was an avid sportsman and fisherman, and his true passion was shooting where he would participate competitively for many years, alongside his wife Dee, whom he initially met at a shooting competition. Al and Dee were able to travel extensively across the USA to take part in numerous competitive shooting events. They also enjoyed many guided bus tours around the USA, Europe and UK.
Allerton was a proud Korean War Veteran and was a self-employed mason for most of his life. He will also be remembered for his delicious homemade apple pies and clam chowder.
