Mrs. Adams was born in Dallas, Texas, on June 12, 1928, to Adelaide and Gordon I. Logan. She attended Mt. Vernon Jr. College in Washington, DC, and graduated from Garland Jr. College in Boston. Mrs. Adams grew up in Scarsdale, NY, and graduated from Scarsdale High School in 1946, where she met her husband, Robert W. Adams, who attended Yale (Class of ’49). The couple married in September 1951. After raising her two children and actively volunteering in the Scarsdale community, Mrs. Adams became a sales representative for stationery and Christmas card companies for about 20 years. She was also a member of Fox Meadow Tennis Club in Scarsdale and Shenorock Shore Club in Rye. In addition, she belonged to the New York Junior League, the DAR, Daughters of the Cincinnati, the Hereditary Order of Descendants of Colonial Governors, Lees of Virginia, and other genealogical organizations. She regularly attended the annual Friday morning concert series at the N.Y. Philharmonic through December 2016. Marian enjoyed many years of playing tennis and paddle tennis at Fox Meadow and Shenorock with family and friends. She also spent many wonderful summers with her family at Komalova Farm in Canadensis, PA, and at Rockywold-Deephaven Camps in Holderness, NH.
Mrs. Adams’ husband, “Bob”, died in 2003. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy A. Dexter, and her husband, Bruce, of Bedford, NY; a son, Robert L. Adams, and his wife, Jane, of New Braunfels, TX; and three grandchildren, Katherine Lee Dexter, and Elizabeth and Andrew Adams.
Private services and interment were held on Jan. 25 at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hitchcock Presbyterian Church in Scarsdale, or the SPCA of Westchester in Briarcliff Manor, NY.
