Eileen Mary Gearty

Eileen Mary Gearty of Colts Neck, formerly of Eastchester and the Bronx NY passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Eileen was born in Brooklyn, NY to Dr. John and Julia Tallent. She was raised and lived on Baisley Avenue, Bronx, N.Y. from 1936 to 1960 with her two brothers John and James. She graduated from St Benedicts Grammar School and then Preston High School in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx. Upon graduating from Preston HS, she went on to earn an undergraduate degree In Psychology along with a Teaching certificate from Mary Mount College in Manhattan. Over the next 7 years she went on to teach grammar school students at PS93 Fort Apache and PS75 Hunts Point Sections of the Bronx. In 1960 she married Joseph William Gearty and moved to Eastchester, NY in 1965 where she taught at Immaculate Heart of Mary and Immaculate Conception grammar schools till 1984. After 26 years she retired from teaching, and moved to Colts Neck, New Jersey. She went on to work at Colonial Flowers for the next 2 decades.Eileen is the loving wife of the late Joseph William Gearty and sister to the late James and John Tallent.

Eileen is survived by her two sons Sean, James and a granddaughter Fallon. Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday 10:00 am October 18, 2024 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 8 Carmen Road, Scarsdale NY 10853.
