It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Michael John Regan; a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend on Sunday, April 23, 2023 in his 97th year.
Michael is survived by his dear wife, Shirley; loving children and step-children Linda (Stanley), Carol (Ted), Lori (John), Catherine, Michael, Donna (Alan); cherished grandchildren Laura (John), Rebecca (Chris), Jeffrey (Kim), Scott, Eliza, Abby (Matt), Charlotte, Spencer, Graeme, Mackensey, Eric, Bonnie (Scott) and Joey (Teresa) and his most treasured great-grandchildren Ada, Cole, Max and Connor. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Ada (d. 1988).
Michael was born in France on April 11, 1927. He lived a good life over his 96 years through some of the most defining times of the 20th and 21st centuries! Michael joined the British Navy at the end of World War Two where he served on a Minesweeper in the Mediterranean. Michael proudly brought his young family to Canada in 1956 to find new opportunities. He often said this was the best thing he ever did!
Above all, Michael was known for his smile and kindness. He was always there to help when you needed him.
Michael loved to read, listen to classical music, tinker, whistle, watch soccer, go camping, be near the ocean and spend time with his much-loved family. He also enjoyed the occasional nip of a good single malt!
In lieu of flowers or donations, pay it forward with kindness and helpfulness with a big smile. That would be the best way to carry on Michael’s legacy.
