Brian was the best Teacher I’ve ever had!  He taught staff who worked with him about people’s rights, advocacy, patience, humility, love and friendship.  He was the best judge of character and wasn’t afraid to tell me when he didn’t think a person was up to the task-when he was right he’d say to me “told you so” with his sideways smirk.  I appreciate everything about him; his kindness, humour, curiosity and his determination!  His telephone messages made me smile, his stories kept me entertained and his visits reminded me why I love my job.  It was a pleasure and an honour to have known your Brother, Uncle, Cousin, friend-he has left his mark, will be sadly missed and will never be forgotten. My deepest condolences to his family.

Dear Brian, so sorry to hear of your passing. I will never forget meeting you in Limerick all those years ago and how you went off to the library to research the treaty stone and uprising and came home in a gardai car! That was truly epic. Once met, never forgotten. Lots of love to your brother and sisters and say hi and how are ya to Great Aunt Kathleen and Great Uncle Jack for me.  Love from your cousin, Clare xx

Dearest Brian. Oh how you will be missed. I am so grateful to have known you and pleasure of working with you. It was one of the highlights of my career. I will never forget our laughs or your big smile. You brought so much joy to so many lives. You will forever be in our hearts.

It was a pleasure that I had a chance to work with Brain O'Malley for he was a jolly little fellow who full of fun and laughter throughout the shift  you work each day. Of course he was a character, actor and a player in every sense you can think of and now he is all the way in Kenya heaven with his broad cheeky smiles that no one can steal. So Brian O'Malley was someone very special he will be miss but not gotten and may his soul rest in peace.

What can I say about Brian?  There are so many memories from my time with him.  He is probably one of the most important teachers and friends that I have ever had; he taught me so much about myself and the world through his unique  perspective on life.  He taught me to love the Canadian History I had previous deemed boring and inspired me to start following politics and political leaders. I carry with me dear memories of his visits to Orillia- the Cedar Supper, going to Church together,  hanging out with my dogs.  I also cherish the memory I have from when he came out to visit me when I lived in Vancouver.  Somewhere there is a recording of he and I jamming out, me on electronic drums and Brian rapping Oh-Ma-Ha Oh-Ma-Ha-Ha... I'm not sure what it meant but it didn't matter because it sounded awesome and was in time with my beats.  I cherished the messages he'd leave me "oh Olivia ducky ducky quack quack quack where are you? It's me Brian O'Malley. Miss ducky quack quack."  I can still hear his voice and feel his sense of humor. Joni Mitchell wrote in her song  A Case of You:  "Love is touching souls-Surely you touched mine 'Cause part of you pours out of me in these lines from time to time."   That was Brian.  If he loved you he loved you hard and would let you know it.  That kind of loyalty, devotion,  and total love is rare in this world and those of us who were lucky enough to be inside Brian's inner circle will be forever changed- his love touched souls and changed hearts and I count myself lucky to have called him friend.   May you rest in peace now  in Heaven with your beautiful mother and father.  I carry with me always the memories of the time we had together.  Much Love to everyone else who is grieving this loss, and of course much  love to the O'Malley family at this difficult time.  God Bless.

My deepest sympathies are with Brian's loving and wonderful family.  Boy, was I ever lucky to work with them and to know Brian.  He was one of the most intelligent people I have ever met and he taught me so much.  I am so so lucky to have spent time with him and enjoyed every minute of it.  He was loyal, loving, intuitive, funny, and charming.   Brian is a wonderful soul that will live on, I am sure of that.  He burrows into your heart and he will stay in mine always.
