Betty Smith Rahn, 82, of Savannah, died Dec. 30, 2012 at Spanish Oaks Retreat. She was born in Wrightsville, Ga., and was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Hoyt Rahn, and her parents, Eulie Otis Smith and Evelyn Snipe Smith. She was a former member of the Nazarene Church, where she taught Sunday School, and later affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Church of Savannah, where she also taught Sunday School, and took a very active part in the Church, along with her late husband, M.H. Rahn. Betty was very involved with the Girls Scouts of America, and served on the State Level as a member of the Parents Teachers Association. Betty was an active partner in her husband’s successful real estate business. Her favorite hobby was gardening and flowers. Her top priority in life was her family. She adored her daughters and grandchildren and her priorites were sharing her love and wisdom with them. Betty enjoyed helping the less fortunate. She regularly made sandwiches for the homeless and opened her house to many foreign exchange students and missionaries. She was also very involved with her husband, in the Salzburger Society. She is survived by two daughters, Julie Rahn Tucker (Jeff), and Cindy Rahn Bignault (Michael), a sister, Polly Smith Herbst, 2 grandchildren, Sam Rahn Bignault and Carey Rahn Tucker. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Fairhaven Funeral Home – Hubert C. Baker Chapel. Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Friday in the Hubert C. Baker Chapel, with Rev. Aubrey Smith, officiating.
