Beloved husband and soul mate of Mary Ellen (Thompson) and loving father of Andrew and Leah. Predeceased by his parents Eugenia and Aleksander. He was big brother to Andrej (Sharon), Barb Hogan (Pete) and Anna Manocchio (Dan). Dearly loved brother-in-law to Chris Thompson (Gina), Georgia Katajamaki (Mike), Laurie Aceti (late John), Heather Thompson, and Erin Saunders (Greg). Beloved uncle and friend to countless others.
Ted was born in Belgium in 1947 and grew up in Toronto. In the early 70s he accepted a position at Sir James Dunn in Sault Ste. Marie where he taught Mathematics for more than 30 years. Ted loved teaching and was able to explain complicated concepts and formulas in a way that students could understand. Many colleagues became life-long friends of Ted and his family.
Watching and playing many sports including golf, hockey and football were passions of Ted’s. He was a dedicated fan of Canadian Pro golfers, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Raptors, Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. Ted loved a wide range music and his friend John Laford’s artwork, both of which he generously shared with family and friends.
Among his favourite places was our camp on Cloudy Lake, where we spent the last 45 summers. He was always making improvements and additions to the camp which made it the haven it is today. Touring visitors around in the boat and spending time by the campfire were favorite activities.
Ted was humble, generous, kind, and funny, and made an impact on many people’s lives. Always a realist, he accepted his condition and said that he had a long and happy life and that his “bucket list was complete.”
As we remember Ted, let’s cherish the time we had with him and share Ted Stories with others.
At Ted’s request, there will be no visitation or service. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street E. 705-759-2522).
