McMILLAN, Steven - With profound sadness and heavy broken hearts, the loving and devoted family of Steve announce his passing into heaven on September 14, 2015 at his beloved home while holding hands with his loving wife and son, and surrounded by his loving sisters and friends, Steve lastly whispered ‘love you’. Taken too soon at the young age of just 55, he leaves behind his loving wife, life partner, best friend and forever soul mate Jan of 35 years. Proud, devoted and much loved sons’ McKenzie ’Fenzi’(Amy) and Madison ‘BooBoo’. Proud and best Grampa North to cherished granddaughter Paisley, and soon to be Paiton that he was so excited to meet, and will now greet in spirit. Devoted and cherished son of the late Lorne and Janet McMillan. Loved like a son by mother in-law Marilyn MacIntyre and late Norm MacIntyre Sr. Proud, devoted and loving brother and brother in-law to Lorna (Les), Kelly (Mel) and Colleen (Richard). Also loved and cherished like a brother by his sister and brother in-laws Wendy (Glen ‘Budgie’), Heather (Tim), Patti (Al ‘Elbow’) and Norm Jr. (Annie). Beloved and special buddy and friend of Donnie and Gina, Paul, Gilles, Uncle Bobby Drury and late Uncle Bobby Miller. His furry pals, Cooper and Toby are lost without him. Dearly loved and missed by many special aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and friends that span from coast to coast. Steve so appreciated and was thankful by the steady outreach of phone calls, facebook messages and hospital/home visits from everyone who knew and loved him. Steve was our rock, and made of strong caliber. Although his bones were riddled with cancer, he never once complained of pain or held no remorse for the cards he was dealt. He embraced life every day, loving and caring for his family and friends to the end. His greatest joy and proud accomplishment was seeing his boys grow into what every father would want them to be, young men full of pride, integrity, honesty, love, compassion and commitment to family and friends. Steve was known to be a straight shooter, calling a spade a spade and not shy of telling someone ‘where the bear shits in the bush’. Steve so loved to entertain in his garage at 22 Broad St (‘and proud of it’), and was always the life of the party, singing, joking and telling long winded stories. He was in his element at family feasts and spontaneous garage gatherings. Well known to greet everyone with a heartfelt bear hug and welcomed everyone with his favorite song ‘Together Again’. Always willing to lend a hand and help to anyone in need, even giving his last dime if need be. He touched so many lives, both young and old, letting each one know how very special they were, and left them with a lasting impression of what really matters in life. Special Thanks to the exceptional care givers of SAH 3B (Hiedi, Amy, Becky, Felicia, Barry), Dr. Wilson, Dr. Beuhner, Dr. Malony, and to the Cancer Care team, Dr. Rassoulli, Paula, John and team. Extended hugs to our home care nurse angels Alissia and Lisa. Rest in peace my love, until we meet and are ‘together again’ Forever missed and loved. As per Steve’s request, a small private service will be held at Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Saturday September 19, 2015. Visitation for the family and close friends from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm. Funeral service to follow in the chapel at 2:00 pm. Rev. Rick Reed officiating. Following the service, family and friends are welcome to join in the celebration of his life at his home on 22 Broad St. In recognition of Steves’ exceptional character of sharing and caring for others, if so desired donations may be made to the Echo Bay Central Public School for playground equipment or to the Township of MacDonald in support of rebuilding the Echo Bay Sports Complex where he spent many hours , or ARCH.
