Herman was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick. Son of the late Arthur and Anna (nee Chaisson) Hebert. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Myrna Hebert and his daughter Karen Swol, of Ottawa. Brother of the late Eloi Hebert, the late Diane Joliecoeur, the late Annette Noël (George), the late Susan Fortune (Loftus Benjamin), the late Al Hebert (Angie) and Robert Hebert (Susan). Brother-in-law of the late Fred Sealy (late Dorothy), the late Fern Vienneau (late Ernest), the late Manford Sealy (Shirley), Ada Damignani (late Curt) and the late Edwina Arnold. He was 'Uncle Herman' to many nieces and nephews.
Herman spent much of his working career at Algoma Steel and retired after 30 years of service. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed golf, horseshoes, cribbage, billiards and travelling. He and Myrna travelled regularly to Ottawa to visit their daughter. Many years were spent enjoying their cottage on St. Joe's Island, walks on the beach, and tending to their gardens. He loved to watch the Montreal Canadians and the New York Yankees.
