HUNTER, Donald Allan "Don" - It is with great sadness we share the news of Don's passing after a courageous battle with cancer at home with family by his side on Saturday, December 9th. 2023 in his 83rd year.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years Beverly (nee Martin), his children Andy, Laurie Lee (Mike), Mike (Kathleen) and Mark (Katie), his grandchildren Dave Lee (Kelsey), Joe Lee (Kendall), Jake Lee (Katie), Dalton Hunter, Tye Hunter (CJ), Chase Hunter, Madison Hunter and Brianna Ziemkiewicz (Tom) and his 10 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Alex & Rachel Hunter, his sister Adeline Drew and his brother Jim Hunter. Dear brother of Fran Brunton (Harry), Hugh Hunter (Arlene), Alex Hunter (Rhonda), Heather Kirby (late Ralph) and Peter Hunter. Predeceased by his mother-in-law Irene Martin, June Hertz (Duane) and brother-in-law Frank Drew. Brother-in-law of Frances Martin (Gary Boissoneau), Harvanna Wissel (Roy) and Maxine Dinelle (Pat). Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dad had a great love for the outdoors spending time in the spring making maple syrup with his growing family. Summer months was his time for gardening. He could always grow enough vegetables to feed his entire family. Camping and fishing on weekends with mom was a love he had for many years. Fall time brought him just as much joy, hunting with his brothers, sons, daughter and son-in-law, his grandkids, his great grandkids, nephews and two of his close friends, Dave "Bird" Burmaster and Henny Christianson.
Family and friends are invited to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East; 705-759-2522) on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. Funeral service to follow at 12 noon. Mr. Tom Headrick officiation. Spring interment Sylvan Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation (payable by cheque or online) to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
