I first met Ruth on the curling ice then had the pleasure of working with her at Sutherland School.
In both settings Ruth was always there with a smile and a super positive attitude. I consider knowing her and working with her to be a gift on my life journey.

We are deeply saddened by Ruth's passing.  She is our precious sister-in-law and dear friend and we treasure all the memories that fill our hearts at this time.  Rest peacefully and although we miss you, you are not gone...just gone from us!  


Dear Gerry, Karen, Rhonda, and families, I am so very sorry to hear of Ruth’s passing. Such a bright light she was, so welcoming and gracious, so witty, and fun. I remember surprise breakfasts and your sofa-lined basement, and Mrs Cooney singing “Aye waint tae ate same aepples aind bay-nay-nays”.  You were her world. She loved you all beyond measure.  May your memories provide comfort.  May God hold you all in the palm of his hand.

I worked with Ruth as principal of Sutherland School in the '80's.
I remember Ruth's  constant smile and positive attitude towards all she came in contact with - staff, students, and  parents.
Her presence made the school a pleasant place to be. It will be easy to remember her.

Ruth was a lovely, smiling, cheerful presence at all times when I worked with her at Sutherland School.  She also possessed a super power which she used to create magic bandages.  I had only been at the school for a few weeks when a child fell and scraped her knee; I told her I would get a bandaid for it from my desk, but her sobbing response was,  "No, I need Mrs. Cooney's magic bandaids!"  When I asked why, she told me, "Mrs Cooney's magic bandaids always make you stop crying!"

My condolences to family and friends, I am sure she will be greatly missed.  I know you will take solace in hearing the many stories people will share about her.
