Robert (Bob) was born in London, Ontario and passed away peacefully on Monday, October 24, 2011 with his wife Gail by his side after a long and courageous two and a half year battle with cancer at the age of 84. Bob is survived by his loving family: his wife Gail, and Valerie the mother of his 5 children, Marion Byrnes (Chris), Patricia (Mick) McNaughton, Arthur (Donna) Byrnes, Randy (Carol) Byrnes and Nancy (Brian) Farrell; step-daughters Heather (Ron) Peralta and Bonnie Jarvis (Angelo); 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his brothers Tom (Peggy) Byrnes and James (Carol) Byrnes, his sisters Barbara (Gordon) Burns and Connie (Ted, predeceased) Tucker, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and good friends. Bob was a founding member of The Saskatchewan Railroad Historical Association which operates the Saskatoon Railway Museum at Hawker Siding. He was also a member and former executive member of The Saskatoon Model Engineering Society and the CN Pensioners. His passions were trains, curling and Saskatchewan Roughrider football. Special thanks to all of the Home Care workers, and the Palliative Care nurses. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saskatoon Cancer Clinic, 20 Campus Drive, Saskatoon, S7N 4H4 or The Saskatoon Railway Historical Association, Box 21117, Saskatoon, Sk. S7H 5N9. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 11:00 am at Acadia McKague’s Funeral Centre with the Rev. Deb Walker officiating.
