Olga Kardash passed away peacefully at her home just three weeks shy of her 87th birthday. e had He w
Olga was born and raised in Aberdeen, Sask. After high school she moved to Saskatoon where in 1951 she married Joe Kardash. In 1957 they moved into their Haultain Ave. home where they raised four children and spent the rest of their lives together. Following Joe’s death in 2013, Olga moved to Preston Park II Retirement Residence where she lived until her passing. Encouraged at a young age to pursue her love of painting, Olga became a well-known artist and member of the Artists’ Workshop. While her works included landscapes, cityscapes and beautiful renderings of our northern lake lands, her favorite subjects were the flowers from her own garden arranged in unique vases set on ornate lace doilies. Olga also became an accomplished speaker through her involvement with the Christians Women Club, travelling the prairies to share her message of faith and hope. She always had time though to cook up a scrumptious feast and serve it to her family in the dining room, china, candles and all. Her 22 cubic foot freezer was always well-stocked with perogies, cabbage rolls, huge roasts and delicious home baking. Olga is survived by: son Don (Brenda) Kardash, their daughter Maygen (Tyler Dunn & their daughter Petra) and son S.J. (Nicole Romanoff); daughter Marilyn Kardash and her daughter Christena Whittaker; daughter Debbie Kardash; daughter Adrienne Stover (Randy deceased) and their sons Jesse and Chris; mom’s youngest sister Audrey Dzendzel (Pete); sister-in-law Gert Makowecky, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her husband Joseph Kardash; parents Mike and Joanne Makowecky; sisters Irene Regush (Tony), Elizabeth Scott (Scottie), Edna Kondra (Joe), Elsie Smelski (Dr. Carl); and brother Peter Makowecky. The Family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the genuine care and compassion displayed by the marvelous staff of Preston Park Retirement Residence, Home Instead Senior Care and Palliative Care Unit of Saskatoon Health Region. Condolences may be relayed online at www.mourningglory.ca. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in the Chapel of the Prairies at Circle Drive Alliance Church (3035 Preston Ave S). No flowers please. Those wishing to make a donation in Olga’s memory may give to The Saskatoon Council On Aging (2020 College Dr, Saskatoon, SK S7N 2W4).
