Norma was born to Mary and Norman Lockrey in Strasbourg, SK where she spent her formative years with her older brother Jim. After high school she moved to Saskatoon and worked as a telephone operator where she met her best friend and husband, George. Work took George and Norma to Bruno, Calgary and Regina. Eventually they returned to what would be their longtime home in Saskatoon with their two sons, Don and Mark. Norma resided for 55 years in her home on McAskill Cres.
Norma held a variety of jobs, but being a full-time mother was her true calling. She spent many hours at neighborhood rinks, ball fields and band concerts supporting her two boys. While at home she loved to cook, bake and garden. She had artistic outlets in knitting, crocheting and needlepoint and was also an avid sports fan who spent many hours cheering on the Blades as a season ticket holder with George. Norma was an active member at St. Martin’s United Church for many years, volunteering her time to support the church.
Norma and George enjoyed trips to the lake to fish and camp. They were fortunate enough to travel abroad to destinations including England, Brazil, Mexico, Hawaii and Arizona with family.
Returning home was always her safe and happy place where she was surrounded by helpful neighbors who enabled her to stay in her home for as long as she could.
Norma was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, George, her parents Mary and Norman, her brother Jim, her mother and father in-law Roy and Gladys, her in-laws Roy, Jim, Ruth, Ernest, Jerome, Rose, Jean, Clifford and Angus.
Norma will be lovingly remembered by her sons Don (Melissa) and Mark (Tracey), her grandchildren Taylor (Kaela), Rianne (Logan), Evan (Hailey), Dylan, James & Aidan, her great-grandchildren Scarlett and Calvin, sisters-in-law Betty & Esther as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
A Celebration of Norma’s Life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Acadia McKague’s Funeral Chapel (915 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon). Interment to follow in the afternoon.
