1925 – 2024
Mavis passed away peacefully on Oct 8, 2024 after living a full life. Mavis married Adolph Hassel in 1942. They farmed in the Rose Valley, SK area. Three sons were born to this union, Mervyn (d. 1989) (Linda), Eldon (Ronaleen) and Lester. She leaves six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. After leaving the farm, they moved to Hudson Bay, SK where Mavis tended many children in her daycare. After Adolph’s passing in 1987 she settled in the Market Mall area of Saskatoon where she enjoyed walking and coffee with friends at the mall, bowling and playing cards for many years. The social isolation that came with COVID destroyed her life. After a second hip replacement she moved to the Saskatoon Convalescent Home. The compassionate staff provided her with excellent care and community. A social hour remembering Mavis will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 20024 at the Rose Valley Senior’s Centre. A Private Family Interment will take place at Bethel Lutheran Cemetery. Donations may be given to Bethel Church Cemetery Fund (c/o Ragnar Staff Box 490, Rose Valley, S0E 1M0) or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Mourning Glory Funeral Services.
