Joyce was born on her parent’s farm north of Wapella, Saskatchewan. Joyce was always in her own words a “Prairie Chicken” and loved living in Saskatchewan. In her youth she loved to ride the farm horses bareback and spend time with all her cousins. She lived in several different cities and towns over the years ending up in Saskatoon, “The Paris of the Prairies”. Although her husband Dennis and her enjoyed their yearly trips down south to Arizona for the winter they also looked forward to coming home to the long summer days of the Prairies and seeing all their kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Joyce loved family and family history, becoming a member of the Saskatchewan Genealogical Society and worked diligently on documenting the family history researching both her parent’s lineage (Nixon/Brown) publishing the “Nixon From Cumberland to Canada” and “Brown-Bell From the Sound of Bow-Bells to Canada”.
