It is with heavy hearts that we say our final goodbye to John. He was born in Turtleford on May 21st, 1931 to Ed and Nina York. He is survived by his loving wife Agnes, his son Clarence (Dawn), five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his son Leon, his daughter Janet and his first wife Thelma, four sisters and seven brothers.
He grew up on a farm at Turtleford and at the age of sixteen he lost his mother due to cancer. He stayed on the farm with his Dad for a few years and when he realized that farming was not for him he ventured out and joined the workforce. He had several Jobs including store clerking and meat cutting. His final fifteen years before retiring were spend working as custodian at McLurg High School at Wilkie.
Music was his favorite pastime and he was well known as an accomplished piano player along with the organ and accordion. He entertained the public through all his years with various bands and on his own. His talent will be missed at the Manor where he lived.
The Funeral Service for John will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Windsor Chapel (704 Windsor Street Saskatoon, SK)
