It is with profound sorrow that our family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, son, brother and uncle, Graham Nicholson at the Hospice at Glengarda in Saskatoon on the evening of April 15, 2022. He was born in Saskatoon, but grew up and lived on his parents’ farm near Allan, SK. He attended Allan Composite School. Graham moved to Saskatoon in 1990 where he began his lifelong career in retail. He spent most of his 32 years as a manager starting with Bata, where we met. He then moved to FGL Sports (Forzani’s/SportChek), mentoring many young people who came to work for him.
Graham, or “G” as he was affectionately known by most, was a quiet soul, a gentle man of few words with the most delightful sense of humour and a beautiful and mischievous smile. He was a loving husband and an engaged, and adoring father. “Daddy Days” were spent having fun making memories going to restaurants, fishing, mini-golfing, rock climbing and so many more activities. Summers at Waskesiu were an annual “must” for the family. Graham was always ready to go zip lining, golfing or kayaking with his family and friends. We travelled to the Bahamas, Scotland, various Disney locations, and most recently to Maui where we enjoyed so many experiences together.
Graham is survived by his “beautiful” wife of nearly 30 years, Tannis, his son, Austin, his daughter, Chelsea and their 2 adoring pups. He also leaves to mourn: his mother, Jessie Nicholson, his siblings, Harry (Lydia) and George Parker, Mary (Bob) Lewicki, Janet (Scott) Halpin, Bonnie Mitzel (Leon), Nancy (Gary) Prediger, Sherry Brossart (Loren) and their families. Doug Moss, Tyler Moss and Gail Moss also mourn the loss of their son-in-law and brother-in-law. He was pre-deceased by his beloved father, Jack Nicholson, his brother-in-law, Brian Mitzel, his niece, Emily Brossart and nephew, Harry Parker.
We’d like to express our deepest and most heartfelt love, gratitude and support for everyone who has and continues to stand by our family on this unexpected and heartbreaking sixty-eight day journey with brain cancer. A special thank you to the palliative care team and to the family at the Hospice at Glengarda for all of their love and kindness.
In honour of Graham, the family has decided against a funeral, however a celebration of his life will take place later this summer. There are no plans for interment at this time. Arrangements entrusted to David Schurr.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made, in Graham’s name, to Jumpstart (https://jumpstart.canadiantire.ca/) the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (http://www.saskcancer.ca/donate-link), or the Hospice at Glengarda (https://www.stpaulshospital.org/foundation/donate/donate.php).
