She attended St. Patrick Elementary School and Sacred Heart Academy for high school where she excelled in singing. She then completed her Elementary School Teaching Certificate and later her Bachelor's Degree in Education at the University of Saskatchewan. She and Gerry fell in love during their university years, married in 1968, and began a family. They moved to Vancouver for 5 years where Gerry completed his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. They returned to Saskatchewan and settled first in Swift Current and then in Saskatoon in 1980. Grace was active as a substitute teacher and volunteer in the schools, and in the parish community at St. Augustine as a parish worker and sacristan, where she started Rosary Club, Thursday Holy Hours, sacramental preparation programs and vacation bible schools for youth. She was instrumental in bringing Regnum Christi to Saskatoon in 2002. Grace was her kids’ biggest fan for sports, activities and accomplishments. She loved to be with her grandchildren at the time of their birth and visited them faithfully. Grace enjoyed gardening, singing, and quality time with extended family. She deeply valued friendships and always nurtured her relationships. In 2010, Grace was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Aphasia. Over the next decade, she and Gerry participated in many rehabilitation and prevention programs until she gradually lost her ability to communicate. In 2019, she was admitted to Samaritan Place where she stayed until her passing. Grace endeared many people throughout her life, even after losing speech. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, caregivers, staff, and volunteers at Samaritan Place, along with spiritual care from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon. Vigil of Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct 21, with the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct 22. Both services will be celebrated at St. Augustine Parish in Saskatoon (602 Boychuck Drive). In lieu of flowers charitable donations may be given to St. Augustine Youth Groups: Kids for Christ and Servants for Christ. Arrangements entrusted to Travis Minor.
