Evelyn Everett

Mom was born April 12 1935. On the farm near Govan Sask. Mom was the eldest of 4 children born to Clarence and Edna Landstrom.

This next part I’m going to read was written by Evie herself, in Preparation for Gods Calling:

I accepted the Lord as my Savior at the age of 10. Brought up in a Christian home. Went to Caronport High School where I met my future husband Harvey Everett. We were baptized at Arlington Beach the summer between grade 11 and 12. Graduated 1954.

The Lord gave me a desire to be available to His leading early in our life together.

We were gifted with 4 children in 5 ½ years while farming near Strasbourg Sk. I was active in the East Mount Baptist Church as Sunday School teacher ages 18 months to 6 years, for 17 years. I also sang solos and in a trio in the music worship times.

In 1980 Harvey and I felt Gods calling him to Bible School so we rented the land out and Harvey and I both enrolled. Our youngest son came too for grade XI. This was a difficult 2 years, I ended up auditing the class instead for credit.

Graduation day was on out 25th wedding anniversary what a joyful day.  Now What?

 Lived at Caronport, felt called to work with Northern Canada Evangelical Mission to work with First Nation People and represented the mission in churches, I looked after the literature table and meeting people, answering questions and singing at each service. We were also recruiting workers for camps. This would happen 4-5 times each week. On Saturdays sometimes I would speak at a ladies luncheons or conference. Sunday we sometimes had 2-5 meetings (2 churches and senior complexes) we were always billeted out at different homes for meals and overnights. Mondays was our day off, we found a motel and crashed.

It was a joy to be invited to a bible school to speak at their chapel times or show slides in classes etc. At the end of 8 years of traveling for the mission we were visiting 22 Bible School once a year.

During these 8-10 years Harvey directed Pine Ridge Bible Camp for 5 weeks and 1 week at Stoney Lake each summer. I was one of the cooks.

In preparation for these camps, I made out the menus and ordering of the groceries. We also shopped, picked up and transported all these groceries with our pick up and trailer.  I was also the baker, making 22 loaves of bread 2 times a week, plus hamburger, hot dog buns, and cinnamon buns. All by hand, NO machine.  I also cooked and made menus for our staff training week at Big River Bible camp.

One month out of each year we requested to go to a mission station and take over the missionary duties while they went on holidays. Some of the regular duties were, visiting in homes, teaching Sunday school, leading singing, and telling children stories in church. Taking part in bake sales with ladies, being invited to feasts in the village, and going to prayer meetings. We took slides and preparation for the churches starting again in October.

We had the privilege to be in 7 or 8 villages.

Moved to Prince Albert in 1990, Harvey to be Central Field director.             Thus ends Moms written portion of her story.

To carry on, Mom and Dad lived in Prince Albert for 12 years. They were involved in –PA Community Church.

Mom and Dad moved to Saskatoon. They became involved in the senior ministry at Emmanuel Baptist church. In the fall of2013 they moved into Elim lodge.

Mom continued to bake and entertain.

Mom was a very good organizer and planned ahead. Mom and Dad pre-planned part of their funerals. Mom had chosen her Pall bears, the song we just sang, and special request for her great grandson to play a special number.

The preplanning book Mom had, had a few questions, which Mom filled out

I would like the following religious beliefs expressed at my funeral,---Salvation through the shed blood of Jesus Christ . (She was 10) Importance of living each day to the fullest for the Lord, and to keep a vibrant Prayer connection with God.

Some significant accomplishments in my life--- Being a wife, mother, grandmother, friend. Keeping the family united as one in the Lord. Spiritual council to family and friends. Concerned for all around me, home, work and church. Staying very much in love with my wonderful husband all my days.

One of my fondest memories----- 40th wedding anniversary when all our children and families put on a lovely tea for us while in PA, 50th wedding anniversary meal, all the family home, they put on a funny skit,  80th surprise birthday party for Harvey and I. 60th anniversary celebrated at Ambers wedding. The wonderful card and flowers Harvey picked out himself for me, also the O’ Henry Easter Eggs.  Children’s phone calls, celebration every 2nd Christmas as a family at Strasbourg Bible Camp

One of the greatest inspirations in your life------ my family and their love for me and each other. The word of God, and his council each day as Harvey and I had our devotions each morning.

If I could live my life over again------ Do the same, only with much more wisdom.

Favorite Places --- driving in our vehicle, and her own home

My unfinished work ----- putting my pictures in albums, inviting you to our table

My favorite things---- Bible, the chair that lifts- a gift from the children, the Omni chord and song books, china and silverware for my guests, my home where ever it was.

I want my family to remember me for----- knowing I always prayed for them every day, perseverance never give up attitude, “This too shall pass” , the Lord is in control, thankfulness, total commitment to my Lord, loving my 17 grandchildren and 20 and counting great grandchildren.

Memorial Service Information

Evelyn Darleen Everett (nee Landstrom) of Saskatoon Sask, went home to be with her Lord, with family by her side Sunday April 14, two days after her 84th birthday.

Mom was born April 12 1935 at the farm near Govan Sask. Married Harvey Everett of Strasburg April 20 1957. Through their marriage they lived in Dawson Creek area, Regina, Earl Gray, the Farm near Strasburg, Caronport, Prince Albert and Saskatoon.

Mom was preceded by her parent, Clarence and Edna Landstrom, her sister Marilyn Eliason, in-laws Vernon and Louse Everett, sister-in law Verna (George) Huber and Brother-in-law Dennis Everett. Son-in-law Gord McCaslin.)

Mom is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Harvey,
