Donna was born on May 15, 1927 to Wilfred and Margaret Tuttle in Tisdale, Saskatchewan. She was the oldest of five siblings. Donna completed high school and two years of Bible College, where she met her husband, Victor Bahsler. They were married on August 19, 1947. They had three children, David, Garry and Lois.
After living in several communities, Victor and Donna settled in Rosetown in 1960. In 1964, Donna bought a small flower shop from a drug store and turned it into a stand-alone flower shop, “Rosetown Florist”. When she sold it years later, it employed herself and two full-time workers. Donna loved working with flowers, helping make so many weddings, graduations, birthdays, and other events extra special.
Donna loved handiwork of all kinds. She quilted, knitted, and sewed thousands of items. Over the years, she made quilts, teddy bears, Raggedy Anne and Andy dolls, Cabbage Patch doll clothes, baby quiet books and many other items. She generously gave them away to family and friends. She also loved gardening - especially flowers - and filled her backyard with lilies and pots overflowing with flowers. She gardened until she moved into Saskatoon in 2015 at the age of 87.
Donna is survived by her son Garry (Brenda), and daughter Lois (Jerry). Grandchildren Shawn (Cecilia), Rachel, Shannon (Huey), Gina (Ryan). Great grandchildren Matthew, Paige, Colton, Charley, Tommy, Alex, Abigail. Brother Robert (Sandra) and sister-in-law Marjorie.
Donna was predeceased by her husband, Victor, her daughter-in-law Celine, sisters Marion (Berry), Evelyn (Bakanec) and brother Bill (Tuttle). Her son, David passed away 2 days after her from complications of diabetes.
A private interment was held on December 15, 2022 in Rosetown. Her celebration of life will be held at Mourning Glory - Acadia McKague’s Funeral Chapel at 2:00pm, Saturday, April 15, 2023.
