Clem Godbout of Saskatoon passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday February 10, 2022 at the age of 82. Clem is survived by his daughters Dionne Melrose (Colin) and Genelle Hamoline (Paul); four grandchildren Gracie, Oakley, Nolan, Rio; brother Al (Claudette) Godbout; sisters-in-law Sylvia Godbout, Fernande Labrie, Rosalie Martian, Merna Martian-Campbell and their families. He will be remembered by his large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and some very dear friends. Clem was predeceased by his beloved wife of 48 years, Eileen (nee Martian) who he had dearly missed since her passing in 2020 and with whom he yearned to reunite in their heavenly home. He was also predeceased by his parents, Jean-Baptiste and Berthe, and sisters; Donalda, Blanche, Clemence, Rose, Therese, and his brothers, Fernand, Richard, Rolland, Marcel, Victor, and an infant brother, as well as additional brothers- and sisters -in- law in his large family. Clem was born and raised in Marcelin Sk as the youngest of a very big family. He left Marcelin, followed his brothers gaining work experience before moving to Saskatoon where he trained and started work as a barber, something he continued to do for more than 30 years. He loved meeting and connecting with people each day in the shop, and also enjoyed running into his previous clients for many years after he stopped barbering. He married Eileen and shortly after they welcomed “the girls.” Clem moved in new directions in the business world with his main focus being home building through the family business Executive Home Builders, where he was proud of the beautiful homes of a high standard that could be created for families to enjoy. Clem was a very friendly person who had a genuine interest in learning about other people. He enjoyed welcoming people to his home, offering a drink, sharing smiles, talking about news from CNN, having a hearty laugh and, usually also sharing some of Eileen’s amazing cooking. If someone needed something done, no task was too large or small for Clem. Coffee row at Market Mall was a source of great friendship and he hated to miss the opportunity to have a coffee and a visit. He loved time spent with his family and in particularly enjoyed being with his four grandchildren. Clem was a very faith-filled person and took strength from his deep and life long Catholic faith which sustained him. The Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated at 10:30 A.M. on March 18th with Rev Father Emile April, Clem’s nephew, and Rev Father Maurice Fiolleau, Clem’s cousin as celebrants. The service will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (114 Kingsmere Place). Following the reception, Rite of Committal will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
