June 18, 1959 - November 19, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brenda Lois Poncelet, beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend on November 19, 2024 at the age of 65. Brenda’s premature passing leaves a profound void in our hearts and in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
Brenda was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and raised in Kinistino. She graduated from Kinistino Composite High-school in 1977 and went on to pursue her passion for helping others by obtaining her diploma in Psychiatric Nursing. Brenda dedicated her entire career to serving as a Community Psych nurse, touching the lives of many people throughout her long and rewarding professional career.
Brenda’s first love was David Porter, with whom she had a son, Joel David Porter. Later in life she met and married her second love, Norm Glushyk, and together they created a beautiful home near Wakaw, Saskatchewan – a sanctuary they called Poplar Ridge. Poplar Ridge was where Brenda found her greatest joy, hosting friends, tending her gardens, and savouring quiet country living with her beloved cats, her dog, and her husband. She found peaceful solitude walking in the woods, and never tired of watching sunsets and enjoying the vistas from her front steps.
Predeceased by her parents, Charlie and Areta Poncelet and her stepdad Edward Plume, Brenda is lovingly remembered by her son Joel Porter (Kayla), her devoted husband, Norm Glushyk, and her siblings, Lola Poncelet (Darryl), Sam Poncelet (Wahida), Nancy Poncelet, and Pat Fream. Brenda will also be deeply missed by her extended family and friends, too numerous to mention.
Brenda was a vibrant, generous, caring person who gave so much of herself to others. Her compassion for those in need, and her dedication to her work, were hallmarks of her character. She will be forever remembered for her loyalty and commitment; her unapologetic honesty, her unwavering strength, and the beautiful memories she created with those she loved.
Brenda’s family wishes to acknowledge all those who were dear to Brenda. They especially want to thank Betty Rudachyk, Joan Stephens, Shelly Sandness, Diane Jenkins, and Betty Kohle, who joined her family in providing love and support during her final journey. Brenda had so many earth angels – you all know who you are – and without a doubt, she let you know how much you meant to her.
The family also wishes to thank Dr. Venne from Wakaw, who was Brenda’s beacon of light throughout this whole journey; the wonderful nursing staff at Rosthern Hospital; and her caregivers from Beyond Care in Saskatoon, who were a great help to Nancy, who welcomed Brenda to her home in her final weeks.
A celebration of her life will be held at Mourning Glory - Acadia McKague Funeral Chapel, at 915 Acadia Dr., Saskatoon, on Friday, November 22nd, 2024 at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to NASHI in Brenda’s memory. https://www.nashi.ca/
Brenda’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, may she rest in peace.
