William A. Jones, 86, of Nokomis, Florida passed away after a full life on January 30, 2022. William was born on November 29, 1935, son of the late David A. Jones and Jean L. Sharon Jones of Clinton, Pa.
He was a platoon sergeant in the U.S. Army, a 32nd degree Mason, Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He was a lifelong lover of registered quarter horses and an avid showman and old car enthusiast. He worked thirty years for Hy-Test Safety Shoe Company. He retired in 1993 and moved to Florida to sell real-estate for prudential for twenty years. He was a salesman to his core. Affectionately known as “The Shoeman”. He gave generously to many charities. He loved to swim teaching all his children, grandchildren, and even a great grandchild. He was a cowboy who loved to ride horses and motorcycles, watch westerns, and could out draw Matt Dillon.
He was a family man survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Barbara Jones; his children, David Jones and wife, Betty, Tracy Little, and Chris Jones; his grandchildren, Jessica Jones, Brandon Jones and wife, Barbara, Erica Lopez and husband, Chase, William Jones, and Cooper Jones; his great grandson, and several cherished nieces and nephews. We will all strive to carry on his legacy.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 from 6-8 PM at Robert Toale and Sons – Wiegand Chapel, 7454 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34231. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 12:30 PM at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.
