He graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 1941 and served in the Army during WWII as a radioman in Europe. Returning home, he became a skilled auto mechanic at a local garage, married had 2 children and moved to Florida.
“Back in the day” he repaired TVs and loved tinkering with clocks as well as anything that had an engine. He worked for Walter Roling Automotive locally and eventually owned his own shop on Clark Road from which he retired in the 1980’s.
He was a Girl Scout “Go Dad”, a fixer of just about anything and a stalwart church usher. He’d been a member of United Church in Canandaigua, Whitfield Presbyterian and then Church of The Covenant in Sarasota. He was also an award-winning Sarasota Blood Bank donor.
He came from a very close knit family and his abilities in solving auto electrical problems were enormous. Also, he had a quirky sense of humor.
His last years were spent in a serene setting here in Sarasota, cared for by loving, ever helpful people. We, his family are tremendously grateful for that.
