Richard spent the first third of his life in Northern Ohio surrounded by a very large extended family. Together he and his bride Mary raised and nurtured their 4 children Mike, Steve, Skip and Tya. A true lover of everything outdoors he moved his family to Sarasota, Florida in 1974 where he enjoyed every day in the sunshine. His greatest pride were his 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He will always be known as a kind and gentle man with countless friendships that lasted a lifetime. Those that knew Richard would tell you of his kind heart, patient soul and would do anything to help others.
Richard had a love of Orchids for nearly 60 years. He devoted much time to the pursuit of knowledge within his hobby and mentored many that shared the same passion. A quote from a fellow hobbyist “A wonderful man. Richard had a passion for life, growing things, creating beauty, and Mary. Everyone who ever met him will miss him and his great character.
