Patricia Ann McGarry

She was a Christian. Patricia grew up in Whippany, NJ and graduated from Whippany Park High School in 1976, the year of the U.S. Bicentennial. She was a twirler in the marching band. In 1978, she received an AA degree with Honors in Humanities/Social Sciences from the County College of Morris and moved with her family to Sarasota. While in NJ, she worked as an "Expeditor" in Ladies' Accessories at Bamberger's Department store in the Livingston Mall.

In 1980, Patricia received a BA in Sociology from New College in Sarasota. Her undergraduate thesis was "The Sociology of Work." After graduation, she entered the Maas Bros. Executive Training Program and worked as a Department Manager at their Bradenton store. She was later the Training Manager, then Personnel Manager at Maas Bros. at the Sarasota Square Mall.

In 1988, she became the Director of Human Resources and Development at Regents Park / Lake Point Woods in Sarasota. Patricia joined the FCCI Insurance Group team in 1997 and received their Employee of the Year Award in 1998. She subsequently worked in HR for Sarasota County and the Florida Department of Health. She retired in 2017.

Patricia was a people person and thrived in her role as a Personnel/HR Manager. She had a sweet disposition and truly loved meeting people and making new friends. She was known as Patricia, Trisha, or Trish. She has numerous lifelong friends and will be truly missed.

Patricia is survived by her sisters Gail MacAulay (Rick) of St. Petersburg, FL and Jane Beattie (Tim) of Sarasota, FL and her nephews Carson and Dalton Beattie of Sarasota.

The family would like to thank Aravilla Memory Care, American House Assisted Living, and Tidewell Hospice for their loving care of our sister.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Patricia's name to Satchel's Last Resort Animal Shelter, 8101 Coash Rd, Sarasota, FL 34241 or Tidewell Hospice, Tidewell Foundation, 5955 Rand Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34238.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, June 24 at 10:00 AM at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Avenue, Sarasota, FL 34232. Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Park.
