We will miss Margie greatly - she had a great impact on all of our lives. She was a very strong woman who deeply valued and cared about those close to her. She constantly looked for ways to make situations better and to bring happiness to her loved ones. She taught us that nothing is impossible, that we should never stay stuck in a situation, that persistence always pays off, and that family means more than anything else. Her strength and wisdom live on in all of the lives that she touched.
Margie was known for her ability to easily connect with others - she would go out for a walk and come home with a newfound friend. She loved helping others. Margie was a teacher at heart – for many years, she taught children with learning disabilities and provided instruction to other teachers. She always looked for ways to help her family and friends live more fulfilling lives.
We feel so lucky to have known her. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother (“Nonnie”), and friend. She gave us all strength and direction. She guided us through the years and was the glue that kept our family close together. We find comfort in knowing that she lives on in our hearts and memories - she will always be by our side, sending us encouragement and love.
Margie was deeply loved by many. She is survived by her husband, Howard; her son and his wife, Jeffrey and Jessica; her daughter and her husband, Cassie and Kevin; and her grandchildren, Ellie, Dash, Skylar, and Lucy.
The family plans to have a private family ceremony to celebrate her life. We ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Margie's name to support Dr. Harshman's Research Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The family will forever be thankful for the care that Dr. Harshman provided to Margie and we hope to play a small part in finding better treatments for ureter cancer patients. Please visit Dana Farber’s Giving Page to make a donation. http://www.myjimmyfundpage.org/give/margie
