Marie Ann Bloomer Patterson, age 99, passed away peacefully at Grand Living at Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota, FL on Friday, January 12, 2024. Ann was born on February 10, 1924, in Binghamton, NY to Irene D. and William H. Bloomer, Sr.
She graduated from Binghamton Central High School and Connecticut College, New London CT, class of 1946. In June of 1946, Ann married David K. Patterson, Sr. and they began their married life in Evansville, IN. In 1955, the family returned to Binghamton. In 2021, Ann moved to Sarasota, FL to be closer to family. Ann was a member of Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church and Altar Guild, the Junior League of Binghamton, the Garden Club, the Board of Fairview Home, and Roberson Photography Club. In addition to the great joy of family and many friends, Ann enjoyed traveling, photography, reading, tennis, cooking and entertaining.
Ann was predeceased by her parents; her husband, David, Sr.; her eldest son, David, Jr.; her son-in-law Glenn R. Smith; her brother, William H. Bloomer, Jr.; and her sister, Sarah Jane Bloomer.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan P. Smith, Cary, NC and Dr. Julie P. Fago (John), Bethel, VT; her son Don D. Patterson, II (Mary Beth), Lakewood Ranch, FL; her sister-in-law, Patty Bloomer, Binghamton, NY; her five grandchildren, Michael Smith (Justine), Chicago, IL; twins Kathryn Meeks (Justin), Nashville, TN and Tina Horn (Jason), Apex, NC; Peter Nicholls (Niff), Philadelphia, PA; and Dr. Evan Mullen, Palo Alto, CA; eight great grandchildren; and 10 nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Tidewell Hospice and Grand Living at Lakewood Ranch for their compassionate care, comfort and love given to Ann. At the convenience of the family, a memorial service at Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church (Binghamton, NY) and interment at Floral Park Cemetery (Johnson City, NY) will be held at a later date. Contributions in Ann’s memory may be made to Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church, 44 Main St., Binghamton, NY 13905. Arrangements in FL were made by Robert Toale & Sons at Palms Memorial Park, Sarasota, FL.
